Uzbekistan Airways ordered three Avro RJ85s in late 1996, to replace its Yak-40s on domestic and regional routes. Two are used on passenger services from Tashkent to the tourist destinations of Samarkand, Buchara, and Kokand, and the third is operated on behalf of the government in a VIP configuration.
